Channel Islands removed from US tax haven blacklist

A blacklist of tax havens by the U.S District of Columbia, which featured the Channel Islands, has been repealed.

The Bailiwicks were listed as part of a plan to highlight international jurisdictions the U.S. considers to be used by people trying to avoid paying tax.

The Chief Minister was opposed to the decision and worked hard to remove the islands from the list.

On Tuesday, D.C. authorities made the decision to repeal the list, meaning the Channel Islands is no longer blacklisted.

Also featured on the list were Gibraltar and the Isle of Man and the British Virgin Islands.
