Jersey Sports Minister misses Dance World Cup after arriving in Budapest instead of Bucharest

Steve Pallett's journey

Jersey's Assistant Minister for Sport has been left red-faced after flying to the wrong Eastern European city for an official engagement.

Steve Pallett was meant to be in Bucharest in Romania for the Dance World Cup.

But his department had instead booked him on a trip to Budapest in Hungary, 530 miles away.

He had even missed the closing ceremony of the NatWest Island Games to get there.

Left Jersey on Friday, grabbed a few things, passports... [got] upto the airport to fly, booked on the flight, got both boarding passes, went across to Gatwick to Heathrow, stayed overnight, got on a flight and three quarters of the way across I woke up and found that I was about to land in Budapest and I should have been in Bucharest.
