Hotel closed for deep clean after Norovirus outbreak
A Guernsey hotel has been closed because of an outbreak of highly contagious Norovirus.
Two further cases of the vomiting and diarrhea bug were confirmed last night and managers decided to close the Peninsula Hotel to residents and staff.
A complete deep clean will now take place and it is hoped the hotel can reopen by the weekend.
The outbreak at the 99-bedroom hotel began at the weekend when several residents were taken ill. More than 50 bookings had to be relocated elsewhere on the island, the restaurant was closed and private events were cancelled.
Experts from Guernsey's Health Department have been working closely with the hotel's management to offer support, advice and sanitising help.
