70th anniversary of SS Vega arrival
70 years ago to the day the hopes of desperate Channel Islanders were lifted as a British Red Cross ship arrived on Guernsey's shores.
The SS Vega carried almost 120,000 packages to the Channel Islands filled with much needed food and medical supplies, arriving in the island towards the end of the 2nd World War.
In Jersey islanders will be celebrating the arrival of the Vega on the 31st December.
