Deputy: new site for Les Quennevais School "long overdue"

Deputy Montfort Tadier has expressed his support for plans to move Les Quennevais School in Jersey to a new site.

A new school is "long overdue" he says, describing it as "inadequate and vastly undersized."

As a former pupil and long-standing political representative for the area, he believes it is vital to make sure the move is the correct one.

One possible location is on the corner of Les Quennevais sports field; Deputy Tadier says a balance must be struck to mitigate any loss of green fields.

He advises moving the Parish Hall to the current site and also having some housing there with open green spaces, allotments and shared community facilities.

The students in the west of Jersey do not have the same facilities as their friends in the rest of the Island and, notwithstanding the excellent head teacher and dedicated staff, this does have an impact on their experience and opportunities during their secondary education.
