Passengers had to be evacuated from a plane after it caught fire in Guernsey.

Three engines from Guernsey Airport Fire and Rescue Service responded at 1:35pm after smoke was visible on an Aurigny flight, scheduled to take off for Southampton at 1:00pm.

Passengers were told to leave the plane and were taken back to the terminal building as a precaution. They are currently awaiting crew and a new aircraft to continue their onward journey.

Nobody was reported as hurt.
