Kuhl's Pipistrelle bat species found in Guernsey for first time
The Kuhl's Pipistrelle species of bat was recorded in Guernsey for the first time this weekend.
Three of the bats were juveniles showing that the species is breeding on the island.
The species has a small breeding population in Jersey but has never been seen before in Guernsey.
A radio tag has been attached to one of the Kuhl's to track its movements.
The Kuhl's Pipistrelle was one of five species caught during the Channel Island Bat Conference.
Other species spotted in the survey were common pipistrelles, grey long-eared bats, Natterer's bats and the Channel Island's greater horseshoe bat.
