A new parenting programme to support families in Jersey is starting in schools from today (Wednesday).

The "Triple P" scheme aims to prevent and resolve behavioural and emotional problems in children and teenagers by creating a positive home environment.

More than 30 staff members across the island have been trained in specialist parenting strategies, learning a range of techniques to support families and help them manage behaviour.

Parents can access help through one-to-one sessions or in groups.

The first in a series of seminars, aiming to help children up to 12 years old, starts at Mont Nicolle School tonight.

Parents can find out more about the programme, including dates ofseminars in their area, by contacting Patricia Tumelty, Parenting Co-ordinator at The Bridge, on 449152 or by emailing P.Tumelty@gov.je.
