Hollywood actor Sir Patrick Stewart and restaurateur Prue Leith have pledged their support to the campaign for assisted dying in Guernsey.

The pair are both patrons of Dignity in Dying; an organisation working towards a law chance for dying people to have "greater choice at the end of life".

The celebrities declared their support to the Guernsey debate today at an event also attended by Guernsey Chief Minister Gavin St Pier and local campaigner Sarah Griffith.

The high-profile pair both believe end-of-life choice should be legalised.

Deputies will vote on whether to debate assisted dying for terminally ill residents on 16th May.
