A former Guernsey Chief Minister has died.

Former Deputy, Laurie Morgan, was the first man to hold the title of Chief Minister on the island in 2004 and passed away yesterday.

He served as President of the Advisory and Finance committee before the government underwent a restructure in 2004.

His death was announced by the Bailiff at the States of Guernsey this morning, who passed his condolences to Mr Morgan's wife Wendy, also a former States member.

Deputies stood in tribute to Mr Morgan's twenty years of service.
