Lucky escape for driver after van engulfed in flames

The driver of a van made a lucky escape today (Sunday), after her vehicle caught fire as she was driving.

Firefighters arrived on the scene, after she had managed to safely pull over and get out of the van uninjured.

One fire engine was sent to the emergency, between Five Oaks and Maufant Village.

By the time it arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames nearby to a domestic oil tank.

Firefighters managed to fully extinguish the blaze using a hose.

The oil tank was unaffected.

The States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
