New law to combat overgrown hedges
Residents in Guernsey will be able to lodge official complaints about their neighbours' overgrown hedges when a new law comes into force next month.
The new rules will be introduced on 2nd October and will allow people to inform the Development & Planning Authority about any poorly maintained hedges that cause a loss of light.
A fee will be charged for processing the complaint.
In some cases, a High Hedge Notice could be served, saying what action needs to be taken to address the issue.
The Authority says that the legislation is intended to act as a last resort, when all other attempts to resolve the problem have failed.
