Guernsey's first Commonwealth Games athletes selected
Guernsey's Commonwealth Games Association (GCGA) have announced the first seven athletes selected for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
The following competitors will be off to the games in Australia next April:
Cameron Chalmers (Athletics)
Billy Le Poullain (Boxing)
Tobyn Horton (Cycling)
James McLaughlin (Cycling)
Karina Jackson (Cycling)
James Roe (Mountain Biking)
Josh Lewis (Triathlon)
The announcement was made by the GCGA Chairman, David Harry, at the Queen’s Baton and Youth Commonwealth Games reception last night.
Chef De Mission, Garry Collins, has congratulated the athletes who have so far been selected.
He is set to travel to Australia in 4 weeks’ time to inspect the Gold Coast facilities.
Guernsey has been awarded 33 athletes places for Gold Coast across 9 sports which include; athletics, badminton, boxing, lawn bowls, cycling, shooting, squash, swimming and triathlon.
The remaining team will be selected in November with the closing date for applications the 31st October.
