Jersey men’s football team tumble out in the group
For the second Island Games running Jersey’s men's football team has not managed to qualify from the group stages.
A 3-0 win over Orkney at Vaskinde wasn’t enough to see the reds through to the semi-finals, as Menorca beat Alderney 6-0 meaning their goal difference was one better after all.
A late sending off for Orkney wasn’t enough to swing things for Jersey, and after the game Manager Martin Cassidy said: "The team are all pretty upset. But we didn’t take our chances."
In the women’s football, it’s been revealed that Jersey’s ladies need a 4-0 win and Gotland to beat Menorca.
They play Gibraltar in the final game of Group C and are confident they can make it into the semi-finals to defend their gold medal.
