Alderney yellow line row: 'They're absolutely disgusting'

A row has broken out in Alderney over new yellow parking lines which have appeared on Victoria Street.

They were painted to make the area more safe for pedestrians and road users.

Some people are disgusted by the "neon" colour

But, some residents are horrified at their "neon" colour, described as "worse than custard".

People also have a problem with the untidiness of the painting, with one woman saying: "A five-year-old child could have done better."

Despite that, States Member Tony Barnes, who heads up the Traffic Working Group, told ITV News "they are excellent".

He says they stop people parking on the road and will make things easier for pedestrians.

States Technical Officer Aaron Braye has admitted that the lines will need tidying up, saying: "Sadly it has not been a great success due to paint not being very workable."
