Full scale emergency called at Guernsey Airport after smoke smell
A full scale emergency was called at Guernsey Airport, after cabin crew smelt a faint smell of smoke on board an Aurigny plane after it took off.
Staff thought the smell was coming from the rear baggage hold, and the decision was made to return to the airport as a precautionary measure.
The aircraft landed safely at 2pm, with no reports of injuries, and passengers were disembarked while fire crews attended.
Baggage was x-rayed again and some e-cigarettes and other electrical items were found.
The airport was closed for around 20 minutes, which has caused some delays.
Aurigny has apologised for the inconvenience, but say "safety is always our top priority".
