Guernsey undersea electricity cable switched off
The undersea electricity cable that links Guernsey to France is being switched off today.
The cable is being switch off so that essential maintenance work can take place to the Channel Islands Electricity Grid.
The planned maintenance is expected to take around two weeks to complete.
It will include work in the Barkers Quarry substation, as well as work in Jersey and France.
Guernsey Electricity's Chief Executive, Alan Bates, says islanders "won't notice any difference".
Guernsey Electricity have invested nearly £30 million in their on island generation infrastructure.
They say there are "sufficient generators" at the power station to use during the maintenance and their "usual back up" will be the primary source of electricity for now.
