95% of all hate crimes recorded in Jersey last year were racially motivated, according to figures obtained by ITV News.

The statistics, revealed in a Freedom of Information request, show that out of 23 reports in 2016, racial hatred was a factor in all but one of them.

The number of these type of incidents has risen year-on-year since 2013.

In 2015 racial hatred accounted for 82% of hate crimes - the same percentage as in England and Wales.

However that figure rose to 95% last year.
