The health of the man accused of killing Guernsey woman, Sarah Groves, has 'seriously diminished' over the course of the 3 year trial - according to Sarah's father.

Vic Groves says Richard de Wit was present at the most recent hearing in the murder trial, which lasted less than 10 minutes.

The accused reportedly told the judge and public prosecutor that he is looking for a lawyer to defend his case, but has so far been unable to appoint legal representation.

Meanwhile, the judge has ordered that a report into Richard De Wit’s mental health is reported before the next hearing, or officials explain the reasons for not submitting the documents.

In April and May last year the court heard a series of arguments about the defendant’s mental state.

Vic Groves says that at one time it looked as if he would be declared ‘unfit to stand trial,’ but the judge overruled all applications because the defendant refused to allow his medical history to be divulged to the court.

Vic Groves said;

The next hearing date has been set for Thursday 16th February 2017.
