Ana Goncalves named regional Pride of Britain winner

Jersey woman Ana Goncalves has won the regional Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Fundraiser of the Year Award.

Our reporter Hannah Bechelet surprised the ultramarathon runner at the bank she works in to tell her the news this afternoon.

Ana will now represent the Channel Islands at the national awards later this month, and will compete against the other regional winners for the national Fundraiser Award.

Ana finishing her 30th marathon in 30 days

Ana has spent the past 11 year raising money for charity, since her sister suffered a head injury and was helped by Headway Jersey.

Since then she has raised more than £100,000 by doing challenges such as running seven marathons in seven days, a marathon a month for a year and 100 miles in a day.

Most recently, she became the first Jersey person to run 30 marathons in 30 days, raising more than £15,000 in the process.
