Scrutiny criticise Education President who refuses to attend hearing
Guernsey's Education Scrutiny Panel are criticising the President of Education, who won't attend a public hearing to answer question on his committee's progress.
Deputy Paul Le Pelley says he would rather speak to the panel after the upcoming debate on the island's education system.
But, Deputy Chris Green, head of the Panel, says they want regular hearings to get more answers for the public.
The future of Guernsey's education system is still unclear after politicians voted to scrap the 11-plus exam earlier this year.
But, the new government decided there will be another debate on the issue as early as November, which will finally decide which system to adopt.
Deputy Gavin St Pier, President of Policy and Resources, supports Deputy Le Pelley saying he has 'a short time frame' to prepare for the upcoming debate.
Deputy St Pier acknowledges this may be 'inconvenient' for the Panel.
