Jersey RFC captain, Alex Rae, has been confirmed as the club's new forwards coach.

ITV News exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Rae had applied for the role and the Reds have decided that he is the right man to replace Steve Boden.

It means the skipper will retire from playing at the end of this season - after games against Yorkshire Carnegie in the Championship and Guernsey in the Siam Cup - before taking up his new role ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Rae's appointment comes after it was confirmed last week Boden would be leaving for Yorkshire Carnegie in the summer, Jersey's opponents in their last Championship match of the season on Saturday.

The league match will be Boden's last at St Peter, Rae's last as a player and Bill Dempsey's last as Chairman before being replaced by Mark Morgan.
