Terri touches down in new home

Terri in her crate on board the jet

Terri the turtle has finally touched down in her new home, Gran Canaria.

The animal washed up in Jersey over two weeks ago and needs to be re homed in a rehab centre in the Canary Islands.

It was going to cost £22,000 to fly her there, but a Guernsey based jet company owned by Iron Maiden lead singer Bruce Dickinson offered a much cheaper alternative.

Islanders raised over £6,000 to save the animal.

She normally lives in warm waters and is thought to have been knocked majorly off course by storms, before she arrived at New Era Vets cold and shocked.
