Jersey Royal starts selling sweet potatoes

The Jersey Royal Company has started growing locally-grown sweet potatoes in a bid to expand its crop.

The first lot of potatoes have been harvested and are currently on sale at a Jersey supermarket.

The grower says it hopes to have them on offer in Guernsey soon.

Sweet potatoes have seen a big increase in popularity in recent years, often seen as a healthy option.

They typically grow in warm, sunny climates.
