Driver has lucky escape after car catches fire

Footage has emerged of a car that burst into flames on a busy Birmingham road, causing delays for motorists.

The car caught alight on the A435 near Maypole yesterday morning. Motorists were told to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the fire.

Witnesses say the driver was alerted to the flames underneath his vehicle by a lorry driver passing in the opposite direction.

The driver had a lucky escape and no-one was injured in the incident.
