Police are appealing for witnesses after a rape in Chesterfield.

It happened on Good Friday, (March 25) between 10.05pm and 10.25pm. A woman was walking along Springfield Avenue in Ashgate when she was approached by a man.

The man said that he had lost his dog and asked if she would help him to find it. The woman agreed and they walked down a footpath which runs between Springfield Avenue and Linden Park Grove.

The man then pushed the women to the floor and raped her.

I would like to stress that this is an isolated incident in a secluded area. We are keen to trace a man that was described as 5ft 10ins tall, of a slim build, in his late 20s with short black spikey hair. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a black jumper and jeans.
