Fire after explosion at flat in Black Country
Police are investigating after a flat fire in the Black Country last night, which they believe was caused by an explosion.
Officers were called to Oldbury Road in Rowley Regis just before 10.10pm to reports of a fire. The fire service also went to the scene and extinguished the fire.
Two men managed to leave the flat and police detained them outside. They were taken to hospital with minor injuries, and police say they will be questioned about what happened when they are fit to do so.
Officers say nobody else is thought to have been injured, but the building is structurally damaged and several homes nearby were evacuated as a precaution, with around 20 people moved into temporary accommodation for the night.
Investigators are now working to determine what caused the explosion.
