Artist weaves tribute to Queen using war memorial name labels and pins
A Nottingham artist has created an unusual portrait of the Queen by weaving together names taken from a war memorial in Ilkeston in Derbyshire.
Each individual name was machine woven onto tape and assembled into a portrait using just dressmaker pins.
Joy Pitts' portrait was inspired by the Queen's festive message last year, which recalled the Christmas Truce of 1914.
The portrait is designed to pay tribute both to World War One servicemen and to the Queen’s sixty-three year reign and dedication to the armed forces.
