The High street fashion chain, Primark, opens its new store in Walsall today.

The Council has invested £7 million pounds into the development as part of plans to transform the Old Square Shopping Centre.

This is the retailer's 169th store in the UK and 289th store in total.

I'm delighted that we have finally completed this exciting project.

"It's a massive boost for the town. You can feel the anticipation and excitement building as we count down the days and hours before the store opens.

"Just take a look around at what's happening in Walsall. There's some amazing regeneration work taking place in the town, delivering almost £40m of investment and approximately 700 new jobs.

"The new cinema scheme at Walsall Waterfront is progressing well and is expected to be open early next year.

– Councillor Adrian Andrew, deputy leader for Walsall Council

Doors will open to customers from 10am today.
