Prince George of Cambridge is sharing his second birthday today with one of the long standing residents at The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham.

Molokai, the Giant Green Turtle has turned 39 this 22nd July and aquarists at the attraction are spoiling him by treating him to a specially created cake, made mostly from his favourite snack – broccoli!

It's been 39 years since Molokai was found at Heathrow airport when he was smuggled into the UK to be in a TV advert.

Animal trafficking is a subject close to the heart of Prince George’s father, Prince William, who is a supporter of WildAid, a charity that aims to end illegal wildlife trade.

Although 39 might sound old, for Molokai it’s a mere drop in the ocean considering he will live to be well over 100. “After eating his cake, Molokai will probably spend the rest of his special day snoozing under the tunnel in the Ocean tank and scratching his belly on the corals.”
