Police are appealing for witnesses after a man tried to rob a bank in Oadby while wearing a black burka.

The man threatened a staff member and demanded cash before fleeing NatWest, on The Parade, at 10.15am this morning (16 January). Witnesses say they saw him carrying part of a firearm.

Nothing was stolen and no one was injured.

The man is described as 5ft 10ins tall and stocky. He was also wearing tinted sunglasses and was carrying a white handbag.

Our enquiries into the incident are currently ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the man acting suspiciously near the bank before the incident, or as he ran away from the scene.
