Wizzard star Mike Burney dies aged 76
Saxophonist Mike Burney, who played with Wizzard, The Beach Boys, Sammy Davis Junior and Bob Hope has died, aged 76.
He was an internationally respected musician who has been described as the 'finest jazz musician this region has produced'.
Burney, who lived in Walsall, can beheard playing on Wizzard's hit 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday'.
He also performed with Jimmy Cliff, Chaka Khan, Petula Clark, Steve Winwood, Dionne Warwick, Billy Eckstine, Mel Torme and Cliff Richard.
Mike married his long-term partner Sue Brotherton in July last year and died from cancer at home on Thursday night.
