Eight cars and a van were deliberately set on fire in a spate of arson attacks in Worcester overnight.
Fire crews from Worcester and Droitwich were called to the Warndon estate shortly after midnight to reports of fires in Randwick Drive, Haresfield Close, Tetbury Drive and Martindale Close.
Five of the vehicles were completely destroyed and four were badly damaged.
Police patrols in the area have now been stepped up, and forensic teams have been searching for evidence.
A spokesman from West Mercia Police blamed the blazes on "blatant vandalism."
These are worrying incidents and at the present time we cannot see any obvious reason why the vehicles have been targeted, therefore we suspect this is just an act of blatant vandalism.
We are thankful there have been no injuries.
Additional patrols will be taking place over the next few days to provide reassurance to local people.
