Leicester has lost out in its bid to become UK City of Culture 2017. The announcement that Hull has made the successful bid was made this morning.
Kasabian back Leicester 'City of Culture 2017' bid
Leicester band Kasabian made a surprise appearance at the city's clock tower today to pledge their support for the city to become 'City of Culture 2017'.
Leicester has been shortlisted for the prize - along with Hull, Swansea Bay and Dundee.
Supporters gathered earlier to see the final bid document delivered to the Mayor.
