Car catches fire after flipping over in serious crash

A man was seriously injured when his car crashed, flipping onto its roof and catching fire in the early hours of the morning.

The man, in his 40s, was taken the Major Trauma Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, suffering severe head injuries.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash in Sycamore Road, Bournville, Birmingham, shortly after 2.15am.

They anaesthetised the driver before sending him to hospital on blue lights. His passenger was treated for minor injuries.
