The Fire Brigades Union has voted in favour of strike action, which could see emergencies in Derbyshire tackled by trained members of the public.
Results of a ballot are due to be revealed today, which will decide whether firefighters in Derbyshire will strike over their pensions.
If the Fire Brigades Union vote comes back in favour of the strike, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service say they will look to use trained members of the public to tackle emergencies instead.
The service says they are in a difficult position, and will do what they can to fulfil their obligation to provide an emergency response.
Campaigners against the move to use reserve firefighters say the move is ‘irresponsible’ and a risk to the public.
