Police issue statement following discovery of WW2 bomb

There were train delays in place across parts of the region this morning after an un-exploded WW2 bomb was found near the railway in Worcestershire. Police have confirmed the device is to be destroyed in a controlled explosion.

"We were called just after 9am this morning to reports that Network Rail workers had found an object, believed to be an unexploded historic mortar bomb, in a field near to Brockhill Lane and the old Norton Barracks in Norton, Worcestershire. The area has been cordoned off and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) is currently in attendance. A controlled explosion is due to take place at 11.30am."
