Family order DNA tests on organs returned to UK
The family of an eight-year-old Birmingham girl who died while on holiday in India have revealed they are to order DNA tests to ensure the organs repatriated today are actually hers.
Gurkiren Kaur Loyal went to a clinic in the Punjab suffering from dehydration, where she died - and when her body was returned to the UK, it was discovered her organs had been removed.
Doctors in India have now returned organs to the UK - but her mother told ITV News Central they will be getting a DNA test to ensure they really belong to her daughter.
She described the pain of losing the child as "totally numbing".

Gurkiren Kaur Loyal went to a clinic in the Punjab suffering from dehydration. She died in the hospital, but when her body was brought back to England, many of her major organs were missing.
Doctors in India said they were kept for further tests to be carried out.

The parents of an eight-year-old girl from Birmingham, who died while on holiday in India, say the missing organs of their daughter have now been found and are due to be returned to the UK.
Gurkiren Kaur Loyal went to a clinic in the Punjab suffering from dehydration. She died in the hospital, but when her body was brought back to England, many of her major organs were missing.
Her family have been campaigning to get her body parts back ever since. A doctor in India has confirmed they are there. The Foreign Office has asked for them to be released.

Almost three months after her death, Gurkiren's death remains a mystery. The schoolgirl was from Hockley in Birmingham and was on holiday in India with her family. She was taken to a clinic with mild dehydration but she died after being given an injection with an unknown drug.
Her family want to know what caused her death, but when Gurkiren's body was returned to Britain her organs were missing, without them new tests can't be carried out to determine how she died.

A memorial service is being held in Birmingham today for a girl who died in a clinic in India.
Gurkiren Kaur Loyal from Ladywood fell ill during a family trip to the country in April and went to hospital to be treated for dehydration.
The 8-year-old's parents claim she was given an injection, but medics refused to tell them what it was.
She died shortly afterwards.
When her body was flown back, Gurkiren's family realised that her organs had been removed.
Today's memorial event is happening in Centenary Square in Birmingham between 4:30pm and 7:30pm.
Those who attend are being asked to wear red or pink - Gurkiren's two favourite colours.
