Attempts to refloat canal barge fail
Engineers have failed to re-float a canal barge which sank in the River Nene in Northamptonshire.
The narrow boat was swept into a sluice next to Ditchford Lock near Wellingborough. Attempts by Rescue workers to pump out the water over the weekend were unsuccessful.
The workers say the operation was made more difficult by the bad weather conditions, including heavy rain, and that they will try again to rescue the boat when the weather improves.
Attempts to re-float narrowboat
The River Canal Rescue service is attempting to re-float a narrow boat which partially sank on the River Nene in Northamptonshire after smashing into a sluice gate.
The boat got into trouble at Ditchford Lock on Thursday. Two people were onboard at the time, but they both got off safely.
The water is now being pumped out of the boat, which the rescue service says was not badly damaged during the incident. Attempts will then be made to re-float the vessel.
