Three schools shut as Travellers move on to playing fields

Three schools in Derbyshire are shut this morning, after Travellers moved onto their playing fields last night.

The schools affected are Parklands Infants, Harrington Junior and Wilsthorpe schools in Long Eaton, which are all on a campus together.

Parklands Infants has had to cancel a day of special Jubilee celebrations because of the ongoing situation.

A brief statement on the Wilsthorpe School website says it is shut due to "unforeseen circumstances" but that students taking exams should still attend.
