Travellers moved on to school playing fields in Long Eaton, Derbyshire last night, resulting in Parklands Infants, Harrington Junior and Wilsthorpe schools not opening this morning, other than for students taking examinations.

Police vans outside the gates of the Parkland, Harrington and Wilsthorpe schools in Long Eaton. The schools are shut today, after travellers moved onto the playing fields last night.
The Wilsthorpe School does remain open for students taking examinations.

Three schools in Derbyshire are shut this morning, after Travellers moved onto their playing fields last night.
The schools affected are Parklands Infants, Harrington Junior and Wilsthorpe schools in Long Eaton, which are all on a campus together.
Parklands Infants has had to cancel a day of special Jubilee celebrations because of the ongoing situation.
A brief statement on the Wilsthorpe School website says it is shut due to "unforeseen circumstances" but that students taking exams should still attend.
