Family pay tribute to 'perfect' girl, 13, found dead in Solihull woodland

A family have paid tribute to their "perfect girl", after the body of a girl, 13, was found in woodland in Solihull.

Kiera Devine, 13, was found dead on Monday 13 November, following concerns for her welfare.

West Midlands Police confirmed her death was not being treated as suspicious.

Her family said they were devastated at the loss of a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin who would be "missed beyond measure".

Kiera's aunt, Olivia Merchant, said she was a "perfect girl in an imperfect world".

"Kiera was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin who will be incredibly missed," Olivia said. "A perfect girl in a world that is not so perfect.

"A girl who was unapologetically herself and never strayed away from who she wanted to be. Though we aren’t too sure how to navigate through this pain, as a family, we will do it together. Kiera you are loved beyond words and will always be missed beyond measure. We love you so much. Sweetheart, you can rest now."

A fundraising campaign to support Kiera's family has raised more than £15,000 so far.

Olivia said: "As a family, we are so appreciative of all the support we have received. We are thankful for your kinds words and the donations.

"The funds received will help to ease the pressure on Kiera’s parents in terms of having to return to work so soon. We really could not be more thankful."

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said on Tuesday 14 November: "We were called just before 5pm yesterday following concerns for the welfare of a 13-year-old girl in Solihull.

"Tragically, a short time later the youngster's body was found in woodland near Tudor Grange Park. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.

"The youngster's family has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this awful time."

West Midlands Ambulance said two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a trauma doctor, critical care paramedic and community first responder attended the scene and administered life support, but nothing could be done to save her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
