Fire crews tackle "large scrapyard fire" in Nechells
West Midlands Fire Service is dealing with a "large scrapyard fire" on Aston Chruch Road in Nechells in Birmingham.
The fire started in a 200-tonne-heap of metal at the Hawkeswood Metal Recycling centre at around 8am Friday morning.
Station commander Lee Baker, wrote on Twitter "we currently have 8 appliances, 1x Aerial, 1 x High Volume Pump working at Shredmet Nechells.
"Crews will be in attendance most of the day working with on-site staff, creating a fire break".
The incident is believed to be at the site in which five men died at a recycling centre in 2016.
Emergency services are urging people to avoid the area while they try to bring the blaze under control.
A section of the A47 Heartlands Parkway is currently closed between Cuckoo Road and Saltley Viaduct.
Clouds of smoke can be seen billowing into the air in the Nechells area of Birmingham.
