Lorry fire causes A38 closure
A lorry fire has closed part of the A38 overnight and this morning (3rd March).
The fire broke out on the busy route's southbound carriageway between its junctions for Fradley and Lichfield at around 11.30pm last night.
Firefighters from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and traffic officers from Highways England remain at the scene. Details of any injuries are not known at this stage.
Dramatic pictures from both the fire service and Highways England show roaring flames coming from the lorry.
The road was closed fully before the northbound stretch reopened at around 2am.
Highways England says they are clearing the route before reopening. Diversion routes are signposted.
