Ferocious lorry fire causes chaos on M6
Drivers travelling on the M6 are being urged to review their journey after a ferocious lorry fire.
The blaze occurred on the southbound carriageway of the M6 between Coventry and Nuneaton, around junction three.
The accident has caused miles of tailbacks and there is smoke streaming across both carriageways.
Two out of three lanes are currently closed on the southbound carriageway, as Highways Agency officers attempt to recover the lorry.
A Highways Agency spokesman said: "Two lanes of three are closed, with heavy congestion expected until the HGV can be recovered and the damage to the carriageway can be assessed and made safe for drivers."
"Lane closures will remain on all day as the fire caused significant damage to the road surface and will require resurfacing overnight.".
