Mr Kipling lorry catches fire closing main road
The lorry burst into flames closing the road which is near to East Midlands airport.
Highways England and Leicestershire Police were called to a serious fire last night on the A42.
A Mr Kipling cake lorry had caught fire. Police joked on social media that no one was injured but "there were some rather overdone Apple Pies in the back."
The road is now fully open but was closed for a period in both directions between junctions 13 and 14, just near East Midlands Airport and the junction with the M1.
Water used to put the fire out had turned to ice and gritters had to treat the area.
