The much maligned Broadmarsh car park in Nottingham is going to be demolished. Councillors at the City Council met earlier today, and gave the go ahead for it to be pulled down.

And someone from Nottingham will have the chance to get the demolition going by taking the first sledge-hammer swing at the car park. Nottingham City Council doesn't think there will be many who will be sorry to see the structure go, and it's launching a competition to find that person.

The council also says that it is more cost effective to demolish the building than to refurbish it. So, there will be a brand new development with a modern car park (with the same number of spaces), bus station facilities, and new shops and cafes. It will form part of the wider regeneration of the area.
