Calls for urgent meeting with Education Secretary over closure-threatened school
A local MP has hit out against the Government’s decision to re-open the consultation into the closure of Baverstock Academy in Birmingham.
The secondary school in Druids Heath was plunged into uncertainty in June last year because of financial difficulties.
However, things were looking up in September when it was granted a stay of execution after "positive" talks with potential new sponsors.
Steve McCabe MP for Birmingham Selly Oak says that the Government is now planning to re-open a four week consultation into closing the school.
He's called for an urgent meeting with the Education Secretary, Justine Greening to demand answers.
The Department of Education has issued this statement in response.
