Derby mum critically ill in Greek hospital after suffering massive brain haemorrhage
Friends and family of a Derby woman, who's critically ill in Greece after suffering a massive brain haemorrhage, are praying she will pull through.
Katy Head collapsed face-down in the sea as she was swimming with her husband Craig and their 8-year-old son Leighton off the island of Kos.
The family from Allenton were on the last day of their holiday.
Mrs Head was airlifted to a hospital in Athens, where she remains in intensive care ten days later.
She has been drifting in and out of consciousness, and doctors have carried out surgery to drain build-ups of fluid from her brain.
It's still unclear whether she will suffer any long-term damage but family back at home and hoping for good news.
Mr Head has set up a web fundraising page to help meet the cost of his accommodation with donations topping £9000 in just six days.
Meanwhile, Mrs Head's friends in Derby have been collecting for the family outside the shop where she used to work.
It could be several months before Mrs Head is well enough to be flown home.
