Company MD jailed for cold-calling advertising scam

The Managing Director of a Derby-based company who was involved in a multi-million pound advertising fraud has been jailed for six years.

Jonathan Louis Rivers, from Coleshill in Warwickshire, who owned Wyvern Media, was one of 10 defendants who pleaded guilty to charges of fraud, false accounting & false representation at Nottingham crown court.

Over a five year period, hundreds of small companies, individuals and charities across the Midlands were mis-sold adverts of poor quality worth thousands of pounds.

The judge at Nottingham crown court described the mis-selling conspiracy as a scandal.
