What are vloggers?

There are different types of vlogger and different types of vlog. Vloggers often use different terms to describe the different footage they make.

In theory, anyone can video blog (otherwise known as 'vlog' ). All you need is a camera and an internet connection. Then you talk about a range of things, whether it is something interesting that has happened to you or your favourite make-up.

The top vloggers are making a lot of money from it. It is thought some are making thousands of pounds from the advertising that accompanies these videos and by mentioning certain brands.

What types of vloggers are there?

  • Beauty vloggers: These vlogs offer beauty, fashion, hair and make up advice. They also do something called haul videos. This is where the vlogger goes shopping, usually for clothes and make up, and shows you what they have bought.

  • Gaming vloggers: These are vloggers who commentate on their own computer game playing.

  • Comedy vlogs: Usually boys playing pranks on each other, set each other silly challenges or take Q&As.

  • Confessional vloggers: Where they talk about their lives, things that have happened to them and funny anecdotes.
